Starlight

I can see starlight inyour eyes
From beyond eternity, piercing my soul
I can feel the warmth of your brown eyes
Radiating comfort from that limpid pool.

Many a time I wish to deny
The churning emotions of my heart
Alas they come back always on a sly
Deeply entrenched, never to depart.

How can I love thee, fairy by the mist?
Beauty in the flesh, untouchable like a dream
With laughter and smiles, surely you exist
But how can I hold thee, lovely moonbeam?

Let me just indulge in imagery
Enshrine such beauty in a niche
This love that was never meant to be
Forever yearning, always out of reach.

For as long as the waves lap the shores
And this heart of mine gallops
I shall worship thine gaiety and mores
With exuberance and full of hopes.
